"Metropolis" (1927) is a groundbreaking silent science fiction film directed by Fritz Lang. Set in a dystopian future, the story takes place in the eponymous city, a sprawling metropolis divided into two classes: the wealthy elite who live in luxury above ground and the oppressed working class who toil in harsh conditions below ground.

The narrative centers around Freder, the privileged son of the city's ruler, who becomes fascinated by Maria, a charismatic woman from the lower depths of the city. Through his encounters with Maria and witnessing the plight of the workers, Freder becomes aware of the vast inequality and exploitation present in Metropolis.

Meanwhile, Freder's father, Joh Fredersen, the mastermind behind the city's oppressive system, enlists the help of a mad scientist named Rotwang to create a robot in the likeness of Maria. Fredersen intends to use the robot to manipulate and control the workers, inciting discord among them and preventing any potential uprising.

As tensions escalate between the ruling class and the workers, the false Maria incites chaos and violence, leading to a dramatic confrontation between the two factions. Freder, Maria, and the workers ultimately unite in a struggle for justice and equality, culminating in a powerful and visually stunning climax that explores themes of class struggle, technology, and the human spirit.

A Bucket of Blood 1959

A Bucket of Blood is a 1959 American horror comedy film directed by Roger Corman. The film, starring Dick Miller, is set in the beatnik culture of the West Coast in the late 1950s. Produced on a budget of 50,000 dollars, the film was shot in five days and features many of the low-budget aesthetics commonly associated with Corman's work. Written by Charles B. Griffith, the film is a darkly comic satire about a dim-witted, impressionable young waiter in a bohemian café who is hailed as a brilliant sculptor when he accidentally kills his landlady's cat and covers her body with clay to cover the tracks. When he is pressured to create similar works, he becomes a serial killer

A Bucket of Blood was the first of three films Corman and Griffith made together in the comedy genre, which also included The Little Shop of Horrors (which was shot on the same sets as A Bucket of Blood) and Creature from the Haunted Sea. Corman had not previously dabbled in this genre, although previous and future Corman productions in other genres contained comedic elements. The film is a satire not only of Corman's own films, but also of the world of abstract art and low-budget teen movies of the 1950s. The film was also praised in many circles as an honest, undifferentiated portrayal of the many facets of beatnik culture, including poetry, dance and a minimalist lifestyle.[citation needed] The plot has similarities to Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933). By setting the story in the Beat milieu of 1950s Southern California, however, Corman creates a completely different atmosphere than in the earlier film

A Bucket of Blood 1959 film

Summary of the plot
One evening, after hearing the words of Maxwell H. Brock, a poet performing at The Yellow Door café, the obtuse, impressionable busboy Walter Paisley returns home and attempts to create a sculpture of the hostess Carla's face. He pauses when he hears the meowing of Frankie, the cat of his nosy landlady Mrs. Surchart, who has somehow become entangled in Walter's wall. Walter tries to free Frankie with a knife, but he accidentally kills the cat when he stabs the knife into the wall. Instead of giving Frankie a proper burial, Walter covers the cat with clay and leaves the knife stuck in it.

Carla and Leonard admire Walter's "sculpture", the dead cat.
The next morning, Walter shows the cat to Carla and his boss Leonard. Leonard rejects the strangely morbid work, but Carla is delighted and persuades Leonard to display it in the café. Walter receives praise from Will and the other beatniks in the café. An admirer, Naolia, gives him a vial of heroin to remind him of her. Without knowing what it is for, he takes it home and is followed by Lou Raby, an undercover agent, who wants to arrest him for drug possession. In a blind panic, believing Lou is about to shoot him, Walter hits him with the frying pan he is holding and kills Lou on the spot.

Meanwhile, Walter's boss discovers the secret of Walter's "dead cat" part when he sees fur sticking out of it. The next morning, Walter tells the café patrons that he has a new piece, which he calls Murdered Man. Both Leonard and Carla accompany Walter to the unveiling of his latest work and are both amazed and horrified. Carla criticizes it as "vile and eloquent" and worthy of a public exhibition. Leonard is horrified by the idea, but recognizes the potential for riches if he plays his cards right.

The next evening, Walter is treated like royalty by almost everyone, with the exception of a blonde model called Alice, who is very unpopular with her colleagues. Walter later follows her home and confronts her, explaining that he wants to pay her for her modeling work. In Walter's apartment, Alice strips naked and sits down on a chair, where Walter strangles her with her scarf. Walter makes a statue of Alice which, when unveiled, impresses Brock so much that he throws a party at the Yellow Door in Walter's honor. Dressed as a carnival jester, Walter is entertained to excess.

After the party, Walter later stumbles into his apartment. Still drunk, he decapitates a factory worker with his own circular saw to make a bust. When he shows Leonard the head, the boss realizes he must stop Walter's murderous rampage and promises Walter an exhibition to get rid of his latest "sculptures". At the exhibition, Walter proposes to Carla, but she rejects him.
